What is the DIACIM Group?
The DIACIM Group (Design of Inquiry and Modelling-Based Science Activities) is a community of practice that provides a space for exchanging experiences and knowledge among secondary school science teachers and science education researchers. The members of the group share concerns about how to integrate inquiry and modelling into their classroom proposals in order to promote the teaching and learning of science. Thus, the DIACIM Group is organised with the aim of designing and piloting activities that serve as good examples—not only useful for their own classes, but also contributing to improving the educational process through modelling and inquiry in science classrooms.
The DIACIM Group is a continuation of the DIATIC Group, which was created in the 2012–13 academic year by secondary school science teachers with extensive teaching experience from different educational centres in Catalonia.
